Traipsing Around England

The town we stayed in was technically Worle, a suburb of Weston-super-Mare. It's in the county of Somerset, and on a clear day you can see Wales across the water. Weston has a nice downtown shopping area near the beach and the new pier. The big building on the end is filled with arcade games, and cafe, and lookouts to see the view.

The day after Christmas, Paul and I went with Pierre and Elena to Bristol, which is about 30min northeast. It's sort of an industrial city, but it had it's pretty parts. Nice old buildings and shopping area, and some cool boats on the river.

We went to Exeter on Tuesday, which was about 40min south of where we were. It's more of a college town, and Paul's sister Ann went there for the last 3 years. We didn't see much more of it than the downtown shopping area, but it looked nice. Here's an old cathedral I saw through the buildings.

Finally, probably my favorite town we went to, Bath. It's so pretty and historical, and just fun to walk around. Even all the shops were in old converted buildings. This is the famous crescent street of apartments. It's where the super rich live. Well, the whole town is where the rich come to retire and improve their health. We went by the old cathedral, the old bath houses, the river, and the bridge with shops on it. We also saw the Jane Austen museum, but only went in the gift shop.
