I heard about a little elevated park on the east side (in the 12th) of Paris, and thought it'd be fun to check out.
Everything I could find about it told me to go to the Place de La Bastille, and it goes from there to the Bois de Vincennes.
Well, it takes a little more direction than that, since it doesn't exactly start right at the square.
Just go a few blocks down Avenue Daumesnil to where it meets Rue de Lyon.
You'll see the archways and stairs leading up to where it starts. Under the archways are shops and artist areas now.
It's actually on what used to be a railway that stopped in the 60's, and was turned into the park in 2000.
Promenande Plantee means "walk with trees", and there were a lot of trees and flowers the whole way down the path.
It used to be the only elevated park in the world, but now they're building ones in Manhattan and Chicago.
You see some really interesting views of the city looking down at it.
We finished our afternoon with a little coffee at a McCafe with a little treat, chocolate/hazelnut tart. Yum!
Yeah, more new places to go to next time. We never got treats at McCafe, but they looked good.
