Our weekend really began Thursday night when we came home from work to turn straight around and go back to Paris for Fete de la Musique. It's a night when all of Paris is closed down and everyone is out in the streets listening to free music concerts of all kinds. It's also a night when the shop doesn't have any tours going out after 7pm since there's no room on the streets for them. That means it's also one of two nights when no one is working and a party is in order. So instead of going out to enjoy free music, Paul and I were swept up into "Fat Tire Field Day", which, as it sounds, was a lot like elementary field day. We had an egg toss and a three legged race. We also had kid's bike races, segway towing, segway pushing, ghost riding (pulling a bike alongside you), 1st gear race, and a brochure box toss. Paul and I were drafted onto teams and so began the night of madness. We didn't regret missing the music at all, but we didn't get home until 1am. ![]() |

In the afternoon, we went to a town called Chateau Thierry and walked around. They were having a festival to celebrate the poet Jean de la Fontaine who came from there. So it was fun to explore there. After dinner it was just relaxing and games, not to mention the France-Spain Euro cup match. (France lost)
