Two days in Hawaii

We only had a few day on Oahu before we had to get back to France, but we tried to make the most of it. We stayed in Waikiki, a few blocks up from the beach. It was very touristy with lots of shops, but still pretty.

Luckily, our full day there was sunny and warm so we headed out of town to a nice quiet beach in Kailua. It was perfect laying on the beach for a few hours and swimming in the ocean!

The island itself was very green and covered in volcanos and hills in the middle.

One of the highlights of the day was stopping for shaved ice! So good! It's very finely shaved with ice cream on the bottom and different flavored syrup poured on top. I had pineapple, mango, and papaya on mine. Paul had pina colada, mango, and watermelon.

The next day was a bit rainier so we packed and checked out of our hotel before heading over to Pearl Harbour. There were some exhibits to visit and we went on the USS Bowfin submarine.

In the afternoon we headed over to Hickam Air Force Base for Max and Laura's wedding. The sun came out for the whole evening and we had a nice view over the water from the deck where the wedding took place.

We had to leave directly from the wedding to the airport to make our flight back to France. At least a day later we were hauling all our bags home and catching a nap. Our whirlwind trip was over and it was back to work.

  1. Which was the best flavor of shaved ice? or is it just like gelato--have some every day?

  2. Tough choice- I would try different ones every day. They had about 20 and even some sugar-free. I liked the pineapple the best myself. Don't get it with beans, I didn't try it but was advised against.
