Vaycay to the USA

If you were wondering where I've been the last month, well I'm back. I have no excuse for the first two weeks of March, but for the last two weeks Paul and I went for 11 days to the states! Since my busy season is during the middle of summer, we're only able to have this much time off during the other times of the year.
Monday the 18th began our fast-paced whirlwind through three states, on 9 flights and two trains. For future reference, the Amtrak train ride from Seattle to Salem has very nice scenery, but that's about all it has going for it. After the high speed trains of Europe, this North American version was woefully slow.
We were blessed with decent weather wherever we went, which wasn't hard to do as Paris had been having snow and freezing temperatures the week before we left. Our few days in Oregon were filled with shopping and home-cooked meals. Thanks mom! Then we spent a few days in Seattle trying to see as many friends as possible. We managed to have some good one-on-one time with almost everyone, but our taco dinner party brought everyone together.

One highlight was a particularly sunny day where we decided to take it easy and have a picnic at a park. After debating merits of all the parks around the city, we decided on Gasworks for the view of Lake Union, (and we'd already gone to Greenlake). After throwing around the frisbee for a while, we got warm enough to take off our coats.

As always, it went by too quickly, but we had to leave for our next destination, Hawaii! More on that to come...
