An English Wedding

June 8th dawned bright and sunny, just in time for the big day after worrying temperatures and showers. We all got dressed up to see Ann and Tim tie the knot at Bristol Road Baptist church in Weston-super-Mare on the west coast of England.

The ceremony was closer to an American style than a french one since they could do the whole ceremony in the church. (In France you have to be officially married at the town hall). The whole wedding party sat down in the front row the whole time, except Ann and Tim, who stood during their vows. They exchanged vows and rings and all that right away, and then we basically had a worship service. We sang 4 or 5 songs, one in french, had a short message (which Paul delivered), scripture readings and prayers. After that, they went into a little back room to sign the papers and it was done!

We had tea time afterwards while family pictures were taken, then we walked down to the reception at The Ballroom by the beach. It was big and pretty and looked right on the water.

This is the "fastenator" I found to fit in at an english wedding. It turned out I was in the minority as hardly anyone was wearing this or a hat. (See photos of the royal wedding a couple years ago if you're wondering what I'm talking about.) It was still fun.

Each table was named after a book with a quote from the book on the back. We were honored to be at the Harry Potter table. :)

The happy couple.
