Rouen and Paris

We had a few more days around Paris with John here and we decided to take a trip to Rouen for one of them. I had been years ago for a few days, so I remembered the old part of town and the highlights. Luckily it was a magnificently beautiful day to show the boys around.

The famous cathedral that Claude Monet painted a lot from the side. There was some restoration going on at the front.

After walking down the rue du Gros Horlage (literally, the street of the big clock, as seen here), you come to a square with a church dedicated to Joan of Arc. She was imprisoned and then burned at the stake here years ago. It had beautiful stained glass windows.

The creperie where we had lunch in a cute little side street.

Back in Paris we were able to go to the newly reopened Picasso Museum, this is the line outside. It was nicely done inside, although I had never seen it before. I'm not the biggest fan of Picasso, but I did enjoy the tour and the works inside.

We also went up to the Montmartre area and walked around, went into Notre Dame cathedral, and then went up the Arch de Triomphe. Beautiful views from the top!

We also managed to celebrate Halloween a little late on Sunday. Julia dressed up as a giraffe all day (good weather was gone by this point and clouds had moved in). We went over the our friend's house and had yummy pumpkins scones and hot apple cider while watching the kids play.

  1. The most adorable giraffe ever! Was Livia dressed up?

  2. Everyone was wearing denim in the picture with John in Rouen. Maybe they were all American tourists, too? I noticed that French guys (young ones, anyway) wore skinny jeans.

  3. Livia was a pumpkin. :-) There were a lot of tourists in Rouen, but locals wear jeans too. Young people always wear skinny jeans.
