Fez, Morocco - Part 2

On our third day, the weather was much nicer and we were able to go out of town up into the mountains. One group went on a challanging bike ride, while I joined the group going on an equally challanging hike.

We went up what we came to realize was a donkey trail into the hills and passed several little caravans carrying mostly wood down into town. It was rocky and steep going up, but it soon leveled off and wasn't too bad the second half.

It was dry and scrubby with some trees, but also a lot of open area with views back down into the valley. We came across more animals, donkeys and goats mostly, as we made our way down.

After we met back up with the rest of the group, we went for lunch to a local goat farm where they make their own cheese and have honey hives as well. We had a cheese tasting first, then a grilled meat and tagine lunch. Some of the best food we had all trip!

Our last morning, some of us went back to the Medina for some shopping and have a look around. Achmed took us to an old palace that had been abandoned and run down, but is now in the process of being restored. We also had mint tea on the roof top over looking the city.

So after 4 days, it was a really fun trip and now I need to go back with Paul and Julia!
