Paul and Julia and I spent the last week with all the Bourdois at a vacation house 4 hours from Paris near Limoges. It was a big 4 bedroom house, which is good, since we had to fit 8 adults and 5 kids! It had a large living room, kitchen, and play room as well, so we really felt like we were living it up. The backyard was the best, since it had a BBQ area with an outside table, a pool, and a swing set. The kids had so much fun.
We went for walks around the other 7 or 8 houses in the area and drove to the neighboring villages. Our favorite was Nanteuil en Vallee, which had an old church, an Abbey, and a nice creek running through town. We also found a house for sale there that someone might buy! (Just kidding, but we did really like it.)
We also went to Verteuil, where there was a nice chateau on a hill, but we couldn't figure out how to visit it. So we went for drinks and ice cream instead. :) Then walked up to a nice church.
When it wasn't raining (our first day and last two days were!), we spent the days in the backyard reading, playing in the yard, or swimming in the pool. The kids LOVED it all and had so much fun with each other.
