Saturday Fun

The last few weekends dad has had to work, so the kids have just had mama to keep them busy. We've had lovely sunny weather this fall, so rather than hang around the house, we've gone out to enjoy it while we still can.

Three weeks ago we went into Paris for a playdate with some kids from church. They remodeled the area around an old mall in the center of Paris, and now both the mall and the outside area have had a nice facelift. We enjoyed the playground for a couple hours before heading home for lunch and a nap.

The next weekend we crashed a visit to the zoo with our friends at the Jardin de Plantes. It's known for the large natural history museum, but also has a menagerie outside that's great for little kids. It's not too big, so we were able to see everything in a couple hours. Not very many big animals though (no lions, giraffes, elephants, hippos, etc). It did have a few big cats and a crocodile, but I think the flamingos were the favorite, at least among the girls!

This weekend dad was working from home, but we went out to give him a quiet house and since we'd be home all afternoon. We attempted a bike ride down to the river Marne where there is a bike trail that goes quite a ways. The ride there was far enough for us, so we stopped and played at the playground once we got there. Julia is still riding with training wheels and doesn't go very fast, so James and I went at a very sedate pace to stay with her. She was so good about staying with it though and powered through to make it home. We all took a good nap in the afternoon. :)

We'll see what next Saturday brings!
