Sushi Night

We were adventurous tonight. Very adventurous. Ok, we didn't go skydiving or anything. As the title indicates, we had sushi for dinner tonight. It was also homemade sushi. That's right, we made it ourselves for the very first time. Without any experience or prior knowledge of what's involved either. I looked online and consulted the back of the package of the seaweed stuff to find out what to do. (the seaweed stuff has a special name, but I forget right now, and only a small population of the people I know are going to know it anyway).
Here is Paul adding the rice onto the seaweed bit. It was sticky so I let him to that.

Then we added avocado and smoked salmon and rolled it up. Then after letting it sit a bit, I cut them into the pieces. From this angle you can't tell they're not all the same size. :) But size doesn't matter as much. Pretty professional looking right? Not one of them fell apart.

I got chopsticks for free this afternoon just by walking in and asking at this little asian place by work. We'll have to find nicer ones for next time, but we were really happy with how everything turned out. It was perfect. We voted it one of our best "first time recipes".
